ITINERARY FOR VIETNAM AND COMBODIA

IN 15 DAYS 13 NIGHTS FROM 20 January  TO 03 February 2010

 

Day 1 :  20 January  - BeirutBangkok

Meeting at Beirut airport for departure to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi on flight EY538 at 15.50 arrival at 2055 continue to Bangkok on flight EY 402 AT 2200 arrival at 0650 on 21 January.

Day 2: 21 January – BangkokSiem Reep

Continue on flight PG 905 to Siem Reep at 11.35 , welcome at the airport on arrival in Siem Reap at 12.35 and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Siem Reap is the hometown of the worldwide famous Angkor temples built between 9th and 14th centuries during the Khmer civilization. Temples were just “rediscovered” by the French and now they become a must for all visitors to Cambodia. Afternoon visits to Les Chantiers Ecoles (school teaching wood- and stone-carving techniques ) and its shop called Artisans d’Angkor, then Siem Reap old market. Late afternoon enjoy watching sunset from Phnom Bakheng – a natural 60m-high hill located in the centre of the first kingdom of Angkor. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.

Day 3 – 22 January - Siem Reep

Breakfast at hotel. This morning begins with the visit to Angkor Thom temple complex with the South Gate and Bayon temple. Built during late 12th – early 13th century, Bayon temple has great bas-reliefs and beautiful huge stone heads with faces heading to four directions. Afternoon visits to the enormous Angkor Wat which was built in the first half of the 12th century and is the biggest and most important temple in Angkor temple complex. Continue to visit Takeo and Taprohm temples which were built late 10th to late 12th century. Dinner at Hotel. 

Day 4 – 23 January – Siem Reep

Breakfast at hotel. In the morning  visit Banteay Srei – “the women’s citadel” (32km away from Siem Reap). Being built in the late 10th century, this temple has a very particular charm and is so called a “precious gem” and “the jewel of Khmer art”. then continue to visit Banteay Samre. Return to Siem Reap . One-hour boat ride on Tonle Sap – the Great Lake –visit a floating village of local people. Dinner at Hotel.  Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 5 – 24 January - Siem Reep- Saigon

Breakfast and transfer to airport for departure flight by VN 9881 @ 10:30. Arrival – Saigon and welcome at the airport and transfer hotel for check in , late  P.M. city tour in Saigon. Photo stops at Notre Dame Cathedral and General Post Offce. Dinner and Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

Day 6 -  25 January - Saigon

Breakfast at hotel. Morning drive to My Tho town (75km away / 2 hours’ driving) in the fertile Mekong Delta. Stop on the way to visit Tan Lap Pineapple Farm. Upon arrival in My Tho, take a boat ride on Mekong River to visit local people’s home and orchards on an island. Enjoy fresh tropical fruits of the season and a short hand-oared sampan ride on small canals. Boat ride back to My Tho and drive back to Saigon. Dinner overnight hotel.

Day 7 – 26 January – Saigon

Breakfast at hotel. Morning excursion to visit Cu Chi Underground Tunnels become famous worldwide since the Vietnam War. Climb down to visit the network of tunnels dug out underground and witness the endurance of the local people in wartime. Return to the city centre in the afternoon to visit Pagoda of the Emperor of Jade and bustling Chinatown with Thien Hau Temple and Binh Tay Market. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Saigon.

Day 8 – 27 January – SaigonDanang – Hoi-An

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Da Nang ( VN 322 / SGN – DAD / 09:45 ~ 10:55). Meet at the airport on arrival in Da Nang and proceed to Hoi An town , check-in on arrival. Afternoon transfer to Da Nang for short sightseeing tour including a visit to the Museum of Cham Sculpture which boasts the biggest collection of Cham artifacts in the world. Afterwards visit Marble Mountains on the way back to Hoi An. Dinner and overnight hotel in Hoi An.

Day 9 – 28 January – Hoi An

Breakfast and morning excursion to visit My Son Holy Land of the former Champa Kingdom.This area was the intellectual and religious centre of the Champa Kingdom visit the remaining temples of the site to enjoy the skills of the Cham people. Return to Hoi An in the afternoon , around the nice and peaceful Hoi An ancient town – another World Heritage Site of Vietnam – visit old houses, local market, Museum of Trading Ceramics, Chinese assembly halls and the Japanese Covered Bridge. Dinner and overnightat hotel.

Day 10 – 29 January – Hoi AnHue

Breakfast at hotel. Morning drive to Hue enjoying a short stop on top of Hai Van Pass where beautiful views of the central Vietnam’s coastline are offered and passing by Lang Co Beach. Enjoy a boat ride on the picturesque Huong River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda – one of the most prominent pagodas in Vietnam. Afternoon visit the former Imperial Citadel and continue to visit Royal Tomb of Tu Duc King. The complex of palaces and monuments in Hue has been recognized as  UNESCO World Heritage. Dinner and overnight hotel in Hue.

Day 11 – 30 January – Hue -  HanoiHalong Bay

Breakfast and morning transfer to airport for domestic flight to Ha Noi (by VN 240 / HUI – HAN / 09:00 ~ 10:10). Meet at airport upon arrival and transfer directly to Ha Long (165km away from Ha Noi) where the wonderful Ha Long Bay is situated. Arrive at the boat quay in Ha Long and board the wooden junk for check-in. Lunch with welcome wine on board. Begin boat cruise on the magnificent Ha Long Bay which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. covering an area of 1,500 sq km. Enjoy Dinner on board while watching sunset. Fishing with seine and drinking Vietnamese liqour. Overnight on junk in Ha Long.

Day 12 – 31 January – Halong BayHanoi

Breakfast at Junk and continue cruising on Ha Long Bay to enjoy beautiful landscapes of the bay. Return to shore afterwards and pick-up for transfer back to Ha Noi check-in upon arrival and some free time afterwards. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 12 – 1 Feb. – Hanoi

Breakfast at hotel. Morning visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (if open) and Ho Chi Minh Stilt House and One-Pillar Pagoda. Continue to visit Temple of Literature (which was founded in the 11th century and considered as the first university of Vietnam). In the afteroon visit Hoan Kiem Lake with Ngoc Son Temple and enjoy one-hour cyclo ride in the Old Quarter of Ha Noi followed by some walk in the area. Enjoy the evening show of the spectacular Water Puppetry. Dinner at hotel.

Day 13 -  2 Feb. – HanoiBangkok

Breakfast and morning transfer to the airport for departure flight  to Bangkok arrival and transfer to hotel

Overnight hotel in Bangkok.

Day 14 – 03 February – Bangkok -Abu DhabiBeirut

Breakfast at hotel and free time for leisure or shopping until transfer to airport at 17.00 to take flight EY 401 at 20.05  and continue to Beirut on flight EY 533  at 01.20  arrival at 0310
